Lemon Meltaway Cookies

Hey, Sparkle Scissors here! I know we have not posted since before Christmas when we still had our tree up.  And, as most of you know, sadly, it's not Christmas time anymore (Cue the teardrop rolling down my face).

Well, anyways, I'm going to show you how to make Lemon Meltaway Cookies. They are super easy and require only simple ingredients. But, I DO NOT own this recipe! Here's the link to where I found them:
http://www.dessertfortwo.com/2012/06/lemon-meltaways/   I know it's dumb to post this when it's already on the Internet, but I figured, eh, why not? So here are the ingredients! And you can always double, triple, or quadruple (Did I spell that right?) the recipe!

You will need:

4 tablespoons of softened, unsalted butter
2 tablespoons + 1 teaspoon of powdered sugar
Lemon zest (Put as much as you want!)
2 teaspoons of lemon juice
1 teaspoon of vanilla
1/2 cup + 2 tablespoons of flour
2 teaspoons of Cornstarch
A pinch of salt! ^_^

Mixing the Ingredients: So, first you want to mix the softened butter and the powdered sugar in a medium mixing bowl. Mix well!  Then add the lemon zest, the lemon juice, and the vanilla. Mix again! Then add the flour, cornstarch and pinch of salt. Yep, you guessed it. Mix.... AGAIN! Your dough should turn out a bit crumbly, so don't worry!

Freezing the Dough: Put the dough on a large piece of wax paper, and roll it into a log. It should be at least 8 inches long. Roll your dough log up in the wax paper! Twist the ends and put in the fridge for an hour. Be patient. If you want, while your dough is freezing, make another batch.

Cooking: Once your dough is hardened, unwrap it. Slice the log into cookies! Preheat the oven to 350. Then, when it is done preheating, place the cookies onto a cookie sheet (Don't forget to spray it with cooking spray!) Bake for 10- 15 minutes.  While they are cooking, put 3 cups of powdered sugar in a large Ziploc bag.

Powdered Sugar-ing: After they come out of the oven, the bottom edges of the cookies should be barely golden. While they are still warm (but not steaming hot), put a few at a time into the powdered sugar bag.  Shake the bag up, but not too violently, or else they will break. Lightly shake it up, and PRESTO! Your cookies are done! Mine didn't exactly melt in my mouth, but that's okay, right?

Thank you (Whatever the person's name who owns the blog is) for showing me how to make these! They are so delicous, and my family LOVED them! \(^_^)/  Hooray for What's- Her- Face!

Adorable Yarn Christmas Ornaments

Hey! Sparkle Scissors here! This is one of my favorite Christmas crafts to do. It's super simple, but SO cute!       Hope you enjoy it!

You will need the top or bottom of a ribbon spool, lots of yarn, scissors, masking tape, and ribbon or the decoration of your choice.

Step 1: Unravel about 6-7 (I know, I know) feet of yarn and cut. Now, tape the end of the yarn to the spool circle thing (It doesn't matter which side).

Step 2: Pull the other end of the yarn through the hole in the center and wrap around.

Make sure that the yarn is really closely bunched together. Repeat. After doing that a few times, it should look like this:

Step 3: Keep going.

Step 4: And going.

Step 5: Once your yarn is wrapped all the way around the circle, tie it off in what you determine to be the back by placing the end through one of the wrapped strands of yarn and tying a knot.

Step 6: Decoration time. If you chose to do ribbon like we did, just lace some ribbon through a few strands of the wrapped yarn and tie a pretty little bow. Be sure to double-knot it.

Step 7: Once you are satisfied with your decorations, cut another piece of yarn that is about 4 inches and thread it through a strand of wrapped yarn on the top.  Tie a triple knot and cut off the excess.  This will be the loop to hang it on the tree with.
Step 8:  You can add some color by wrapping some ribbon around it the same way you wrapped the yarn:

Yay for you, you are finished!!  Now you can hang your LOVERLY new ornament on the tree!
